Grosse Isle Rail Car Movements
Dear Residents of Grosse Isle,
We would like to inform you that Prairie Rail Solutions (PRS) will be conducting railcar movement operations in and around the town of Grosse Isle on Friday, October 4th, 2024 and Monday, October 7th, 2024. These operations will be completed over the course of these two days.
Key Details:
- Dates: Friday, October 4th, 2024, and Monday, October 7th, 2024
- Hours of Operation: Railcar movement will take place between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM on both days.
- Areas Affected: Grosse Isle and surrounding areas along the rail corridor.
What to Expect:
- Increased Rail Activity: Residents will notice railcars and equipment moving throughout the area during the scheduled time.
- Noise and Vibration: There may be elevated noise levels and vibrations due to rail operations, including movement of machinery and coupling/uncoupling of railcars.
- Crossings May Be Temporarily Blocked: Railway crossings may be temporarily blocked while railcars are being moved.
Commitment to Minimizing Disruption:
One of the main items we promised is that PRS will not block crossings from 08:30 a.m. to 09:00 a.m., and from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on either day. If switching is required during these time frames, our crews will ensure that the crossings remain clear so that school children, buses, and parents are not prevented from bringing children to or from school.
As part of the preventative plan we developed with the community, we exchanged contact information to ensure open communication during our operations and to respond promptly to any concerns.
Safety Precautions:
- Exercise Caution: Please avoid walking near rail tracks during operations. Cross tracks only at designated crossings, and follow all warning signals.
- Keep Children and Pets Safe: We advise residents to be particularly vigilant in keeping children and pets at a safe distance from the rail activity.
We understand this may cause temporary inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete this essential work.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at tbrewer@centrecan.ca. Your safety and comfort are very important to us.
